Valuing Your Health

Most of us don’t realize the value of our health until it is almost too late. We take health and wellness for granted, thinking that we are perfectly fine, and that we will continue to be in the years to come. What we fail to realize is that as we age a bit at a time, our body slowly creeps to a lower state of health. The signs may not be obvious from one year to the next, but try to think about how you were 8 years back and compare it to your state now. Then you probably can see the difference.

We all know that the brain controls the functions in our body. It sends messages to every cell, muscle, gland and organ through our spinal cord and nerves. But remember that this pathway is always a two-way street. How we get around doing our physical functions everyday and the way we take care of our bodies has a large bearing on the signals that we send back up to the brain.

This is where things like good coordination, agility, balance, flexibility, strength and good range of movement come into the picture. If we are not too careful, we may wear down our systems too much too soon that the peripheral information which comes into our spinal cord starts slowing down or gets interrupted. The agility, flexibility and strength we once took for granted can deteriorate. As our nervous systems starts giving up, we slowly slumber into decrease in our quality of life.

The thing is, it usually takes years before the misalignments and wear in our spine to manifest itself. When we do realize the potential gravity of the situation, it may be a little too late. Are you going to let this happen to you?

A mild back pain, stiffness or soreness here and there – these may all be early signs which you need to pay attention to. The earlier you correct your spine problems, the better chance you get for a fuller life. Act on it now or you may regret not doing so in the future.
